For this test in pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma screening, the “Japan Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline for the Diagnosis and Management of Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma 2025” recommends that the cutoff should be “at least a threefold increase above the upper limit of normal”. Note that the cutoff is different from the “reference value” for this test.
