With this testing method, the affects of contamination will be greater, so please be careful when collecting and handling the specimen.
About HBs Antigen (HQ)
[Diagnosis of HBV Infection]
As with other immunoassay methods, etc., the diagnosis of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection should not be made solely on the basis of a positive or negative test result using this product, but should be determined comprehensively in consideration of the results of other tests such as HBc antibody assay and HBV-DNA quantitative test, as well as clinical course. Please pay particular attention to the use in the following cases.
1. Screening Tests during Health Checkups
Please use detection reagents with as high detection sensitivity as possible such as EIA assay/chemiluminescence assay, and pay sufficient attention when using detection reagents with low detection sensitivity such as immunochromatography or agglutination assay.
2. Emergency Test
Even in cases of a negative result with a rapid and simple detection reagent used as an emergency response, we recommend retesting with a detection reagent with even higher detection sensitivity if necessary.
3. Follow-up Test of Patients Diagnosed with Hepatitis B
Detection reagents using any method such as EIA/chemiluminescence assay, agglutination assay, or immunochromatography can be used, but in case of negative results, we recommend confirmation by a method with higher detection sensitivity.
(Note) Immediately after HBV infection, the viral load is extremely low and cannot be confirmed by any highly-sensitive detection reagent. This period is called the "window (blank) period," during which HBs antigen is not always detected in the collected blood.
