Southern blot hybridization
A method in which DNA digested with restriction enzymes is fractionated by electrophoresis, denatured into single-stranded DNA, transferred onto a nylon membrane using capillary action, and hybridized with a target probe to detect the target gene. It is used to analyze abnormal quantitative and qualitative changes in DNA.

COMMENT

Blood: Avoid cryopreservation. Please note that if the number of cells has decreased due to chemotherapy, etc., it may not be possible to extract the required amount of DNA. Since high-molecular DNA cannot be obtained from tissues fixed with formalin, etc., it is impossible to analyze them by Southern blot hybridization. With this method, EBV DNA may not be detected if the amount of viral DNA is small.
