Immuno radiometric assay
One of the RIA methods in which an antigen is reacted with a solid-phase antibody, followed by a secondary reaction of the antigen with a radioisotope (RI)-labeled antibody.
This method is also called the sandwich method because a solid-phase antibody and a labeled antibody bind to each other by sandwiching the antigen.
COMMENT
Free HCG-β subunit is measured. The antibody recognizes free HCG-β. It is useful as a marker for chorionic and non-chorionic HCG-producing tumors.
